On average, an emergency air ambulance takes off every 10 minutes in the UK, flying 365 days a year in daylight hours. Put another way, during every hour of every day 7 Air Ambulances are attending accidents and medical trauma.
Air Ambulance services – 30 helicopters leased or owned and in service for the 18 Air Ambulance charities plus 2 Operated by the Scottish Ambulance Service. 
They  collectively undertake over 19,000 missions in a year and serve 177 accident and emergency departments:
•40% Road Traffic Collisions. (a high percentage being motorcycle crashes)
•24% Other Medical Emergencies.
•3% Hospital Transfers.
Collectively the Air Ambulances are the busiest voluntary emergency services in the country and are dependant on charitable funding, donations and Lottery funding.

Aims – to prevent death and injury on the roads through education of all road users and campaigning for improvements to road safety. To care for people who are bereaved or affected by serious injury in a road crash through support services.

THE MISTLETOE RUN – The Mistletoe Run is The Dorset Motorctcle Enthusiasts Clubs (www.dmec.cjb.net) annual charity event it is run each year just before Christmas and the money rased is presented to THE DORSET AND SOMERSET AIR AMBULANCE. The National Association for Bikers with a Disability The NABD was set up in April 1991 by six bikers from Stockport and Manchester who would not accept the idea that disabled people could not ride motorcycles, scooters, or trikes.
The membership of the NABD has now grown to a staggering 5,000+ individual members with the support of over 200 affiliated clubs and businesses. Over the past 15 years the NABD has directly helped over seven thousand disabled people to enjoy the freedom and independence of motorcycling [more]

RoadPeace, UK’s national charity for bereaved and injured road crash victims, was set up in February 1992 to meet the overwhelming need for a national organisation to represent and support this huge group of victims and draw attention to their rights.
RoadPeace champions the rights of road crash victims to ensure the trauma they suffer is acknowledged. To this end, RoadPeace researches and documents the experiences of road crash victims, using the findings to inform and influence policy makers, agencies, the media and the public.
